A website grade on every new Brevo contact
When a contact joins one of your Brevo lists, SEO Score API checks their company website and writes the result back to the contact as attributes. Segment by grade, personalise a welcome email with their top fix, or start an automation for sites that need help.
The contact attributes we add
| Attribute | Type | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
SEO_SCORE | Number | The website's SEO score out of 100, as a whole number. |
SEO_GRADE | Text | The letter grade, A+ to F. |
SEO_TOP_FIX | Text | The single most useful fix, in plain English. |
SEO_CHECKED_AT | Date | The day we checked the site. |
Use them in Brevo templates as {{ contact.SEO_SCORE }},
{{ contact.SEO_GRADE }} and {{ contact.SEO_TOP_FIX }}, or
filter a segment on them. If the attributes already exist in your Brevo account, we use them
rather than adding copies.
Set it up in two minutes
- Create a free SEO Score API account at seoscoreapi.com.
- In Brevo, open SMTP & API from your account menu, choose API keys and generate a new API key. Copy it straight away: Brevo shows it only once.
- In your SEO Score API dashboard, open "Email platform sync", choose Brevo, paste the key and click Connect. If you keep websites in another attribute, enter its name.
- That's it. Contacts added to a list from now on are graded, and the four attributes appear in Brevo on their own.
Ideas
- Agencies and web designers: send a "your site scored 54, here is the first fix" welcome email to every lead graded C or lower.
- B2B newsletters: split new sign-ups by grade and send each group the right offer.
- Anyone: put
{{ contact.SEO_TOP_FIX }}in your welcome email.
Questions
Which website do you grade?
The contact's WEBSITE or COMPANY attribute if you have one (you can name another attribute), otherwise the domain of their work email. Gmail, Outlook and other free or throwaway mailboxes are skipped, so they never use an audit.
When is a contact graded?
When it is added to a list, which is what a Brevo sign-up form or an import does. A contact is graded once, even if it joins more lists later.
What does it cost?
Each newly graded website uses one audit from your SEO Score API plan. The free plan includes 2 audits a day; paid plans start at $5 a month for 200 audits. A second contact from the same company within 7 days gets the stored result at no cost.
Does it grade my existing contacts?
No. It grades contacts added to a list after you connect.
What happens when I run out of audits?
New contacts wait and are graded when your plan has audits again. Nothing is lost.
Brevo says my API key was used from an unknown IP address. What do I do?
Newer Brevo accounts block API calls from IP addresses they have not seen. Approve ours from the email Brevo sends you, or under Security, Authorised IPs, then connect again.
What do you store?
Your Brevo API key, encrypted, and the website host and result for each graded domain. We read a contact's email and attributes only to find a website, and we change only the four attributes above, never your lists. Disconnecting removes our webhook from your Brevo account.
